Question: How do I print a document from my laptop, home or office computer?
You can print to the Library public printers from your laptop, home or office computer.
- On your computer, open a web browser (In Windows, you must use Internet Explorer to install Library public printers).
- Go to the printer installation page
- WINDOWS:
- Click on the Library where you wish to print.
- Click on “Yes” to the question “Do you want to add a printer connection?”. This will install the printer.
- If you see a banner prompting you to allow an Add-on from Microsoft Corporation, allow the Add-on to install and run ActiveX.
- If a Hardware Installation window displays, click “Continue Anyway”.
- When the network printer is connected, you can print your file to the chosen network printer from the Printer drop-down menu.
- MAC OSX:
- Click on the Library where you wish to print.
- Follow the instructions as displayed.
Question: I’ve just pressed Print. What do I do now?
- To retrieve your document from the printer:
- When you print to a Library public printer from your laptop, home, or office computer, the workstation ID will be lib-mgmt1. All people who send items using wireless printing will have the same id so you will need to note your document name as well so you can tell which is your print job.
- Go to the printer at the branch library you printed to. You will need to print the document within three hours of sending it to the printer. After three hours it will be deleted.
- A typical network printer with monitor and card reader:
- Place your photocopy card in the reader located next to the printer. Each A4 page costs 12 cents (including GST). You require the full amount of money of the print on your card before you can start the print job. For example, if your print job has 8 pages, then you would require at least 96 cents on your card to begin with.
- Go to the print station monitor next to the card reader and printer.
- Using the mouse provided, click the Refresh button on the screen to refresh the print jobs queue. The screen will then display a refreshed list of print jobs listed by computer workstation number.
- From the list displayed, select the print job that corresponds to yours by ticking the check box. Do not select multiple print jobs – select only one print job at a time.
- Click the Print button in the upper left corner, and your document will print.
PLEASE BE PATIENT – some print jobs take time to output.
