Please note that from March 1st, 2008 internet access from public workstations in the Library will be routed via the “Quotient” traffic management system and will be counted as normal towards the staff/student internet download quota.  This means that all clients who log in to a public workstation as a staff member or student will not directly access the internet via a Library proxy server – instead they will access the internet via “Quotient” (the University’s internet traffic management system).  “Quotient” is widely used throughout the University and has already been in use for some time in selected areas of the Library for internet access, such as from the UQ wireless network and from walk-up laptop ports.

You must use your UQ username and password to authenticate to “Quotient” for internet access and when you log in at a Library public workstation, internet traffic to sites outside the UQ domain will count towards your  internet download quota. The University provides all course-work students (including undergraduates) with a free internet access account and  a monthly download quota of 200Mb. Information on download quotas for staff and higher degree students is available from the UQConnect website linked below.

Should you use up all of your available download quota, you may purchase more from UQConnect – further information is available from the UQConnect web site or from the Ask I.T. website which have been linked below.

Please note that “guest” logins will still only get access to the list of walk-in resources from Library workstations. You will still be able to remotely access electronic resources via the Library’s website (eg. from home).
