Equipment Loans - Ipswich | Print |

Equipment is available for loan by students from the Ask I.T. Staff at the Information Desk, Level 2, Building 8, Ipswich Campus. They are provided to aid students in the completion of their University Coursework. (Students at St Lucia campus should refer to the Equipment Loans page.)

Laptops

Details and Conditions:

  • Please note full Conditions of Use , including overdue and replacement fees (pdf file).
  • Loans are to currently enrolled students in aid of academic work. Valid Student ID must be provided.
  • Loans are day loans only, loaned out from after the Library opens, and to be returned 1 hour before the Library closes. The time is shown on the Transaction Slip which is issued with the laptop package.
  • Loans are made of a "Laptop or Tablet package", which may contain all or some of the following:

Laptop
Wireless Card
Powerpack
Carry Case
Tablet pen if Tablet Package
CD/DVD Drive and USB Cable if Tablet Package

  • Borrowing a laptop/tablet package will count as one loan item on your Library record.
  • Laptops/Tablets have the following software installed:
Windows XP Operating System
Microsoft Office
Internet Explorer
Netscape
Adobe Acrobat
EndNote
ZipCentral
QuickTime
Jasc Paint Shop Pro
Windows Media Player
Windows Movie Maker
CD/DVD Combo Drive


  • Any extra programs/software installed must comply with the associated License agreements. Laptops will be reimaged on a regular basis.
  • C Drive will be available for the temporary storage of work by students. All work should be backed up externally before return. The University of Queensland accepts no responsiblity for files or data stored by students on the laptop or tablet.
  • Printing to the network printer is available from the wireless network.
  • Loans are to be returned, in person, to the desk from which it was borrowed , the day of the loan, an hour before the library closes. No extensions or exceptions will be made.
  • Student's network drives are also available on the wireless network.
  • Network traffic resulting from using any laptop on the Cybrary network may count against your student download quota .
  • The University's Internet Code of Practice applies to the use of all Cybrary equipment.
N.B. If you intend to take these Laptops Off Campus or to use them elsewhere On Campus without a network or wireless connection, you will need to log in before you move away from the wireless connection. Once you have logged on, you can shut down the laptop. Even though you will not be connecting to a network, you will still need to log in to the laptop.
